"The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice." Proverbs 12:15
To truly listen, we must start each day by connecting with our inner selves.
A truly good person is not one who constantly dispenses advice, but one who listens attentively to both personal and others' needs. By doing so, they can entrust their heart to the Lord.
The Holy Spirit serves as a vital source of guidance and enlightenment, helping us reconnect with God.
To effectively listen to others, we must maintain a continuous connection with the Heavenly Father.
"While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him." Matthew 27:19
We cultivate empathy by connecting deeply with the Holy Spirit each day.
This practice not only enhances our listening skills but also strengthens our conscious connection with those who seek our help.
Listening is futile if we fail to genuinely acknowledge our neighbor. Developing empathy allows us to see from another's perspective, experiencing their struggles as our own. This understanding helps us discern the path the Lord took to heal and progress.
"Therefore, Your Majesty, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue." Daniel 4:27
When offering advice, consider how you would approach the situation if it were your own.
This approach ensures that we never give advice that could harm us. Filtering advice through the Holy Spirit and treating the issue as our own is advisable, as it keeps the Faith and Glory of God at the forefront when speaking to someone in need.
"They replied, “If today you will be a servant to these people and serve them and give them a favorable answer, they will always be your servants." 1 Kings 12:7
With the Lord by your side, offer counsel only on matters you have personally experienced and understand through the Father.
Avoid fabricating stories or morals. We have much to gain by using genuine experiences with those around us. Always respond with truth and the Sacred Word.
There is no benefit or moral superiority in providing answers we do not know or should consult others about.
Poorly given advice or a lack of understanding can exacerbate conflicts.
"Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise. Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails." Proverbs 19:20-21
By speaking and connecting with God humbly, setting aside vanity, we pave the way for the sincere and true love of the Heavenly Father.
